My name is Sofia Martinez, a 32-year-old food lover, recipe developer, and writer originally from the vibrant city of Asheville, North Carolina. I grew up in a warm and lively Mexican-American household, where the kitchen was always the heart of the home. With two siblings, loving parents, and my grandmother living under the same roof, meals were loud, colorful, and always made from scratch. Today, I live in Charleston, South Carolina with my husband Marco, our golden retriever Biscuit, and more cookbooks than I can count. I studied English Literature at UNC Chapel Hill, but it was food — not fiction — that truly captured my heart. My love for flavors, family stories, and cooking traditions eventually led me to start this blog.

My love for cooking started at the age of nine, helping my abuela stir her simmering pots of sopa de fideo or roll out dough for homemade tortillas. She didn’t follow cookbooks — she followed her senses, and that’s something I carry with me to this day. Over time, I expanded my horizons by exploring global cuisines, attending food festivals, taking cooking classes during my travels, and experimenting endlessly in my own kitchen.
