Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to create these flavorful mini burgers:
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 mini burger buns
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese, halved
- 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/4 cup diced onions
- 8 dill pickle slices
- 1/4 cup special sauce (mix of mayo, ketchup, and sweet relish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. While it heats, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
- Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into small patties, slightly larger than the buns to accommodate for shrinkage during cooking.
- Place the patties on the hot grill or skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side. When you flip them, place a half slice of cheese on top to melt. I remember my abuela’s advice: Listen to the sizzle — it’s the sound of flavor!
- While the patties cook, lightly toast the mini buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the top buns for an authentic touch.
- Assemble the burgers: Spread a thin layer of special sauce on both halves of the bun. Place the cheese-topped patty on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, onions, and a pickle slice. Cap it off with the top bun.
