Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slider buns
- 8 slices of cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/4 cup diced pickles
- 1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Pro tip: If you’re looking to mix things up, try ground turkey or a plant-based substitute for a lighter twist.
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat. While it heats, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until just combined — remember, over-mixing can lead to tougher burgers.
- Divide the beef mixture into eight equal portions and shape them into small patties slightly larger than your slider buns. This is a trick I learned from my grandmother — the patties shrink a bit while cooking!
- Place the patties on the hot grill or pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Add a slice of cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt perfectly.
- While the patties cook, lightly toast the inside of the slider buns for added texture.
- Assemble your sliders: Spread a thin layer of Thousand Island dressing on each bun bottom, then layer with lettuce, a cheesy patty, pickles, and onions. Top with the bun and sprinkle sesame seeds if using — a nod to the classic Big Mac.
