Learn how to make delicious Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (any color works)
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (11 oz) Cheddar Bay biscuit mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures a perfectly baked cobbler with a golden-brown biscuit topping.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. The aroma of onions and garlic cooking is one of my favorite scents in the kitchen.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  5. Transfer the beef mixture to a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Prepare the Cheddar Bay biscuit mix according to package instructions, using 1/2 cup milk and 2 tablespoons melted butter.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the beef mixture, ensuring that it’s evenly distributed.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving, allowing the flavors to settle and the dish to be enjoyed at the perfect temperature.
