Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
Feel free to substitute whole milk with almond milk for a dairy-free option, and if you’re out of vanilla extract, a dash of almond extract can add a unique twist.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the loaf is baking, mix the additional sugar and cinnamon for the topping in a small bowl.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top while it’s still warm.
The aroma that fills your kitchen during baking is simply irresistible—much like the weekends I spent perfecting recipes with my grandmother.
