Learn how to make delicious Golden Brown Egg Rolls. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork (or substitute with ground chicken or turkey)
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped scallions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 20 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the cabbage, carrots, and scallions to the skillet. Stir in the garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  4. On a clean surface, lay out an egg roll wrapper with one corner pointing towards you. Place 2 tablespoons of the filling near the corner.
  5. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly. Seal the edge with a dab of water. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  6. In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F. Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes each, until they are golden brown and crisp.
  7. Transfer the egg rolls to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
