Learn how to make delicious Irish Pub Burgers with Whiskey Sauce. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Total Time:45 minutes
Yield:4 servings
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 slices of cheddar cheese
4 hamburger buns
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup whiskey (Irish whiskey preferred)
1/4 cup beef broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 small onion, finely chopped
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles
Instructions
Start by preparing your whiskey sauce. In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Pour in the whiskey and bring it to a simmer, allowing the alcohol to cook off for about 2 minutes.
Add the beef broth, heavy cream, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Stir to combine and let it simmer for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties.
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.
Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet for added texture.
Assemble your burgers by placing the patties on the buns, drizzling with whiskey sauce, and adding your choice of optional toppings like lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
