Learn how to make delicious Italian Sausage With Bow Tie Pasta. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, based on your preference)
  • 12 ounces bow tie pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bow tie pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the red bell pepper to the skillet and cook for another 2 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Stir until the cheese has melted and everything is well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add the cooked bow tie pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. Let everything heat through for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired, and serve immediately. Enjoy the rich, comforting flavors of this family-favorite dish!
