Learn how to make delicious Jalapeno Cheddar Beer Bread. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 jalapenos, finely chopped
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle of beer (pale ale or lager works best)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

If you’re not a fan of jalapenos, you can substitute them with milder peppers like bell peppers. For a twist, try adding a handful of chopped scallions or a sprinkle of garlic powder for extra flavor.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Fold in the grated cheddar cheese and chopped jalapenos, coating them well with the flour mixture. This helps prevent them from sinking to the bottom during baking.
  4. Pour in the beer. Stir until just combined. The batter will be thick and slightly lumpy, which is perfect.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the batter. This will give the bread a lovely, golden crust.
  7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Remember, patience is key! As my abuela always said, “Good things come to those who wait.” Letting the bread cool slightly will make it easier to slice and enjoy.
