Ingredients
Gather these ingredients to create a dish that’s bursting with flavor and warmth:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
Feel free to substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. If you can’t find gochujang, a mix of chili paste and a dash of soy sauce will do the trick!
Instructions
Let’s walk through the steps to create this flavorful dish:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for a couple of minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk.
- Add the ground beef, garlic, egg, soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, brown sugar, ginger, green onions, salt, and pepper to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and slightly browned on the outside.
- While the meatballs are baking, make the spicy mayo dip by whisking together the mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice in a small bowl. Adjust the spiciness according to your taste preference.
- Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving with the spicy mayo dip.
These meatballs are a breeze to make and, much like my abuela’s kitchen, they’ll fill your home with an irresistible aroma that draws everyone to the table.
