Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen tater tots, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Feel free to get creative with substitutions! If you’re out of cheddar, try a smoky gouda or a sharp pepper jack. For a vegetarian twist, swap the bacon for crispy fried onions or sautéed mushrooms.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron and spray it generously with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the thawed tater tots, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, ranch dressing, chopped chives, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Scoop about 1/2 cup of the mixture and form it into a ball. Place the ball onto the preheated waffle iron and press down gently to flatten slightly.
  4. Close the waffle iron and cook for about 6-8 minutes, or until the waffle bombs are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  5. Carefully remove the waffle bombs from the iron and let them cool slightly before serving.

From my experience, these waffle bombs are best enjoyed fresh off the iron, when they’re still hot and the cheese is perfectly melty. It’s like biting into a little piece of heaven.
