Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup crumbled bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing
Feel free to customize the spice level to suit your taste. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can substitute sweet potatoes for a twist that echoes the experimental spirit of my kitchen adventures.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, toss the cut potatoes with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until evenly coated.
- Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
- Remove the fries from the oven and sprinkle with salt to taste.
- While the fries are still hot, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with crumbled bacon and chopped green onions.
- Drizzle with ranch dressing before serving. Enjoy the fries hot and fresh, just like the shared meals at my family table.
Remember, patience is key for achieving that perfect crispness. It’s a lesson I learned early on while helping my abuela in the kitchen.
