Learn how to make delicious Make Italian Drunken Noodles. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Gather these ingredients, and you’ll be on your way to creating a dish that’s as flavorful as it is comforting:

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup red wine (Chianti or Merlot work well)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

Follow these steps to bring a taste of Italy to your table:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off and the flavors to meld.
  6. Add the diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Return the sausage to the skillet and mix well. Add the cooked noodles, tossing everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
