Learn how to make delicious Salted Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 1 cup pecan halves, toasted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for caramel)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for caramel)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for caramel)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir to mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1-2 hours.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare the caramel by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt, stirring until smooth. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 12×18 inches.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then evenly sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the sugar mixture, gently pressing them into the dough.
  9. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough into a tight log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Pour the prepared caramel sauce into a greased baking dish and arrange the buns cut side up over the caramel.
  11. Cover the dish and let the buns rise again for about 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  13. Allow the buns to cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving platter, letting the caramel drizzle over them.
