Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Feel free to substitute the strawberries with other berries like raspberries or blueberries if you prefer a different fruit twist. For a dairy-free option, you can use almond milk and vegan butter.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, showing the yeast is activated.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- While the dough rises, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough, followed by the diced strawberries. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the top.
- Carefully roll up the dough from the long side, sealing the edge with a bit of water.
- Cut the roll into 12 even pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the rolls warm for the best flavor experience!
