Learn how to make delicious Sweet and Spicy BBQ Meatballs. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Feel free to substitute the ground pork with turkey for a leaner option or use gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed. The hot sauce can be adjusted to suit your spice preference.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, taking care not to overwork the meat.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the BBQ sauce, honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the sauce until they’re well-coated, then return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to let the sauce caramelize slightly.

Remember, cooking is about trusting your senses, just like my abuela taught me. So, taste and adjust the sauce as you see fit!
