Learn how to make delicious Air Fryer Honey Garlic Chicken. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by patting the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and cutting them into bite-sized pieces. This helps them cook faster and more evenly.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for maximum flavor.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F. While it’s heating, make a slurry by mixing the cornstarch with water, then add it to the marinated chicken. This will help create that deliciously sticky glaze.
  5. Arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding, which ensures even cooking.
  6. Air fry the chicken for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through, until they are golden and cooked through.
  7. Once done, transfer the chicken to a serving plate and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
