Ingredients
Gathering the right ingredients is half the battle won in creating these delicious bombs. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 pound of medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package of puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can substitute the mozzarella with Monterey Jack for an extra kick, or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for some heat.
Instructions
Follow these steps to bring these delightful bombs to life:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, cilantro, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Lay out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Cut each sheet into 12 equal squares.
- Place a small spoonful of the cheese mixture and one shrimp in the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to form a ball, pinching the seams to seal them properly.
- Arrange the shrimp bombs on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Brush each with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color once baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
- Once done, allow them to cool slightly before serving. Trust me, they’ll disappear quickly!
