Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices of bacon
- 4 burger buns
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for toasting buns
If you’re looking for substitutions, you can swap out the ground beef for turkey or a plant-based alternative. For a touch of heat, consider adding a pinch of cayenne to the cream cheese mixture. It’s all about making this dish your own, much like the way my family would tweak recipes based on what was in the pantry.
Instructions
- Start by preparing the blackberry compote. In a small saucepan, combine blackberries, honey, and balsamic vinegar. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the berries have broken down and the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, shape the ground beef into four patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Butter the burger buns and toast them on a griddle or skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the cream cheese mixture on the bottom half of each bun. Place the burger patty on top, followed by a slice of bacon, and a spoonful of blackberry compote. Top with the other half of the bun.
