Ingredients
- 8 ounces of pasta (penne or rotini work well)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
For a twist, you can substitute ground turkey for beef or use turkey bacon. And if you’re feeling adventurous, a sprinkle of crushed red pepper adds a delightful kick.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Remove excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the drained diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Combine the cooked pasta, beef mixture, and crumbled bacon in a large bowl. Mix well to ensure everything is coated in the sauce.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
As my abuela taught me, always taste and adjust seasoning as you go. It’s the secret to making every dish your own!
