Ingredients
To create these savory bites, you’ll need just a handful of ingredients, many of which might already be in your pantry:
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 12 slices of bacon, cut in half
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 1 tablespoon maple syrup for added sweetness
If you prefer a different flavor profile, you can substitute the balsamic glaze with a splash of lemon juice or use pancetta in place of bacon for a slightly different texture and taste.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, balsamic glaze, salt, and pepper until they are well coated.
- Wrap each Brussels sprout half with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. This step brings me back to watching my abuela meticulously roll tamales in our cozy kitchen.
- Place the bacon-wrapped sprouts on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced for proper roasting.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the sprouts are tender. For extra crispiness, switch the oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes.
- If desired, drizzle with maple syrup before serving for a hint of sweetness that beautifully complements the smoky bacon.
