Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Feel free to swap the bourbon with vanilla extract for a non-alcoholic version, or use turkey bacon if you prefer a leaner option. The beauty of home cooking is in making each recipe your own!
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, salt, melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture. Knead until you have a smooth dough, about 5-7 minutes.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Brush with bourbon, sprinkle with cinnamon, crumbled bacon, and drizzle maple syrup over it.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls. Place them cut side up in the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cream cheese, lemon juice, and a splash of maple syrup until smooth.
- Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top.
