Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to bring these delicious rolls to life:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened for topping
If you’re out of whole milk, feel free to substitute with almond milk or any other milk of your choice. For a richer flavor, you might even use buttermilk.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir until well mixed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Gradually add this wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. This is a great time to involve your kids or partner in the process, making it a fun family activity.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spread the softened butter on the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
- Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the longer side, to form a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and your kitchen smells like a cinnamon wonderland.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with a smile and a cup of coffee or tea.
