Learn how to make delicious Brown Sugar Maple Cookies. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Creating these cookies is as delightful as enjoying them. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for a hint of spice)

If you’re out of maple syrup, honey can be a lovely substitute, though it will slightly alter the flavor profile. And for a nutty twist, consider adding a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts.

Instructions

Follow these simple steps to bake your way to cookie bliss:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the maple syrup and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. If using, gently fold in the cinnamon.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. The centers should remain soft.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

One of my cherished memories is of my siblings and I sneaking warm cookies off the cooling rack when we thought no one was looking. The joy of those moments is something I hope you find in your kitchen too.
