Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
For those who love a bit more heat, feel free to add a pinch of cayenne pepper. If you’re out of Cajun seasoning, a simple mix of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne will work wonders.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and stir in the honey, lemon juice, and minced garlic until well combined. Set aside.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season both sides with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon fillets skin-side down.
- Sear the salmon for about 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the other side.
- Brush the honey butter mixture generously over each fillet, then transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.
Cooking salmon was always a bit daunting for me until I discovered the power of high heat and short cooking times; it ensures the fish remains juicy and flavorful.
