Learn how to make delicious Cheesy Garlic Bread Pull-Apart. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of sourdough bread (round or oblong works best)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste

If you can’t find sourdough, a French or Italian loaf will work just as well. And if you’re a fan of spice, don’t skip the red pepper flakes—they add a delightful kick!

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Using a serrated knife, carefully cut the bread into a grid pattern, making sure not to slice all the way through. Aim for 1-inch squares.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Gently pull apart the bread pieces and drizzle the butter mixture evenly into the cuts, ensuring it seeps into the bread.
  5. Stuff the shredded mozzarella cheese into the cuts of the bread, followed by the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Wrap the bread loosely in foil and place it on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  8. Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving warm.

One of my favorite memories was making a similar bread with my grandmother. She always said, “A little patience and a lot of love make everything taste better,” and she was right. Let the cheese get that perfect golden brown—it’s worth the wait!
