Learn how to make delicious Cheesy Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Total Time:45 minutes
Yield:4 servings
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey for a leaner option)
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish with a bit of olive oil.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Just like stirring my abuela’s pots of sopa de fideo, let the aroma guide you.
Add the sliced bell peppers and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
Once the beef is cooked, return the vegetables to the skillet. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and softened cream cheese, mixing until the cream cheese is fully incorporated.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the mozzarella and provolone cheeses evenly over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. It’s ready when the kitchen smells like a savory dream, much like the comforting scent of my grandmother’s homemade tortillas.
Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the symphony of flavors that remind me of family gatherings and shared stories around the table.
