Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
For a fun twist, you can substitute white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks if you prefer. My grandma always encouraged experimenting with what you have at home, so feel free to make these cookies your own!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
These cookies are a family favorite at our house, and every time I bake them, I’m reminded of the first time my abuela let me stir the batter for our holiday cookies. Baking is truly an experience to be shared!
