Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups crushed cream-filled cookies (such as Oreos)
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
Feel free to substitute the white chocolate chips with dark chocolate if you prefer a richer flavor. And if you’re like me, always experimenting, try adding a pinch of cinnamon for an unexpected twist!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the crushed cream-filled cookies and white chocolate chips (if using) until evenly distributed.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set. Remember, the cookies will continue to cook on the baking sheet after you remove them from the oven.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
As these cookies bake, the kitchen fills with a comforting aroma that always transports me back to those lively family kitchens. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love cooking so much.
