Learn how to make delicious Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken Skillet. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

To create this delightful dish, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

If you’re out of heavy cream, you can substitute it with half-and-half or even coconut milk for a dairy-free version. And for those Parmesan cheese lovers, feel free to add an extra sprinkle for a richer flavor.

Instructions

Let’s get cooking! Follow these simple steps to whip up this delicious meal:

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on each side, about 5 minutes per side. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, stir in the heavy cream, and let the mixture simmer gently.
  6. Add the Parmesan cheese, thyme, and rosemary, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  7. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

This dish is a family favorite in our home, often served at our small round table in the kitchen with Biscuit snoozing nearby. Remember, cooking is about enjoying the process, so feel free to adjust the flavors to your liking.
