Ingredients
- 1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
For a twist, you can substitute the heavy cream with coconut milk for a dairy-free version or use pecorino cheese if you prefer a sharper taste.
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
- Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing to coat them in the creamy sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and, if desired, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat. Serve immediately.
Remember, cooking is as much about intuition as it is about following recipes. Feel free to adjust the seasoning to match your personal taste!
