Learn how to make delicious Creative Carrot Shaped Puff Pastry Snacks. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Substitutions are a breeze with this recipe. If you prefer a bit of a kick, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling. No fresh dill on hand? Dried dill will work in a pinch, though you’ll want to use about half the amount. The beauty of cooking is the ability to adapt recipes to suit your taste and pantry stock.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded carrots, dill, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined and set aside.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheets and cut each sheet into four equal squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture onto each square, slightly off-center.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling into a triangle, pressing the edges firmly with a fork to seal. Gently shape the pastry into a carrot shape by pinching one end to form a point.
  6. Brush the beaten egg over each pastry for a golden finish. If desired, add a drop of green food coloring to some egg wash and brush it over the top to mimic carrot greens.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up beautifully.
  8. Remove from oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

As these pastries bake, your kitchen will fill with a warm, buttery aroma that always takes me back to the bustling family gatherings in my childhood kitchen. It’s a smell that promises something delicious is on the horizon.
