Ingredients
To make these delicious twists, you’ll need the following ingredients. Feel free to make substitutions based on your preferences, just as I’ve learned to adapt recipes over time.
- 1 can of crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
Substitution tip: If you’re out of granulated sugar, brown sugar can add a lovely caramel note that’s reminiscent of some of my favorite Mexican desserts.
Instructions
Follow these simple steps, and you’ll have a batch of Crescent Roll Cinnamon Twists ready to enjoy:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon until well combined. Set aside.
- Roll out the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Brush each triangle lightly with melted butter.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered dough, ensuring even coverage.
- Starting at the widest end, roll each triangle tightly into a crescent shape. Then, gently twist the dough to form a spiral shape.
- Arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet, allowing space between each one.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Personal tip: For an extra touch of sweetness, drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the warm twists.
