Learn how to make delicious Crispy Cabbage Pie with Dill Cream Sauce. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized green cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the shredded cabbage and caraway seeds to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Let it cool.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Place one sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Spread the cooled cabbage mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Cover with the second sheet of pastry, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish. Use a fork to create a pattern on the edges if desired.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
  8. While the pie bakes, prepare the dill cream sauce. In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, dill, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Once the pie is ready, let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve with a generous dollop of dill cream sauce on the side.
