Total Time:45 minutes
Yield:4 servings
Ingredients
1 medium-sized green cabbage, shredded
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the shredded cabbage and caraway seeds to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Let it cool.
Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Place one sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
Spread the cooled cabbage mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Cover with the second sheet of pastry, pressing the edges to seal.
Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish. Use a fork to create a pattern on the edges if desired.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
While the pie bakes, prepare the dill cream sauce. In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, dill, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Once the pie is ready, let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve with a generous dollop of dill cream sauce on the side.
