Ingredients
- 4 pieces of fresh white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
For those who love a bit of spice, feel free to add a pinch of cayenne pepper. And if you’re out of fresh lemon, lime juice works beautifully too, adding a subtle zing reminiscent of the citrusy notes in many Mexican dishes I grew up with.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a nice crust when cooking.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Brush both sides of the fish fillets with the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Place the marinated fish on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your fillets.
- Once done, remove from the oven and drizzle fresh lemon juice over the fish. Garnish with chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
As my abuela always said, “Cooking is all about patience and love.” Don’t rush the marination or the baking; let the flavors meld together naturally.
