Ingredients
- 1 pound of beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 2 cups of cooked rice
- 1 cup of broccoli florets, steamed
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Feel free to experiment with substitutions. For a lighter option, you can swap the beef with chicken or tofu. If you’re in the mood for something spicier, a dash of chili flakes can add a nice kick.
Instructions
- Start by prepping your ingredients. Mince the garlic and thinly slice the beef sirloin. Season the beef with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. As the butter begins to foam, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, or until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden.
- Turn up the heat to high and add the beef slices to the skillet. Sear the beef for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it’s browned and cooked through.
- Reduce the heat to medium and stir in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Let the beef cook in the sauce for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully. This step always reminds me of my grandmother’s kitchen, where the aroma of simmering sauces filled the air.
- Remove the skillet from heat and toss in the steamed broccoli florets, mixing them well with the beef and sauce.
- Serve your flavorful beef and broccoli mixture over a bed of warm rice. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
As you cook, allow yourself to enjoy the process. Cooking is as much about the journey as it is the destination. Savor the aromas and let the flavors transport you.
