Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/2 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small flour tortillas
- Chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)
- Lime wedges for serving
Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version, and adjust the level of spice with additional chili flakes or jalapeños if you like a kick!
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Pour this mixture over the cooked beef, stirring to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the beef simmer in the sauce for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- While the beef is simmering, warm your tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft.
- Assemble the tacos by spooning the beef mixture into each tortilla. Garnish with chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime juice for an extra burst of freshness.
My abuela always said the key to a great dish is tasting as you go, adjusting the seasoning to your preference. Feel free to add more honey or BBQ sauce if you crave a sweeter profile!
