Ingredients
- 4 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded Havarti cheese
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: A handful of arugula for some peppery contrast
Feel free to substitute Havarti with a creamy Brie or even a sharp cheddar, depending on your preference. If blueberries are out of season, frozen ones work just as well.
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
- Evenly distribute the shredded Havarti cheese on the bread slices in the skillet.
- In a small bowl, gently toss the blueberries with honey and a pinch of salt.
- Spoon the honeyed blueberries over the cheese, allowing some to tumble over the edges for a rustic look.
- If desired, top with a few leaves of arugula for added texture and flavor.
- Cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and grill for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is equally golden and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let them rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
