Ingredients
- 12 large eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Green food coloring
- Black olives, sliced
- Paprika for garnish
For a touch of fun, you can substitute the Dijon mustard with your favorite spicy mustard or add a dash of hot sauce for some extra kick. If you’re hosting a crowd, feel free to double the recipe. These Halloween Deviled Eggs are so delicious, they’ll disappear faster than you can say “boo!”
Instructions
- Start by boiling the eggs. Place them in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and cover the pot. Let the eggs sit for 12 minutes.
- After 12 minutes, transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool. This stops the cooking process and makes them easier to peel. Let them sit in the ice water for about 5 minutes.
- Once cooled, carefully peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Remove the yolks and place them in a separate bowl.
- Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Use a fork to mash and mix until smooth.
- Add a few drops of green food coloring to the yolk mixture and stir until you get your desired shade of spooky green.
- Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites, creating a small mound.
- Place a slice of black olive on top of each egg to resemble an eyeball. For an extra eerie effect, sprinkle with paprika.
As you work through this process, remember the times you gathered in the kitchen with family, cracking jokes and sharing stories. Cooking is about creating memories, and these Halloween Deviled Eggs are sure to be part of some fun ones!
