Ingredients
- 4 cups of fresh or frozen corn kernels
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional for garnish)
Feel free to substitute fresh corn with frozen if you’re short on time. Make sure to thaw and drain it well before cooking. If you prefer a little heat, a pinch of cayenne pepper can add a subtle kick that complements the sweetness beautifully.
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt completely.
- Once the butter is melted and slightly bubbling, stir in the corn kernels. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until the corn is heated through.
- Add the honey, salt, and black pepper, and stir well to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting the honey butter mixture coat the corn evenly.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. If desired, garnish with fresh chives before serving.
A little tip from my experience: make sure not to overcook the corn. You want it to retain a bit of crunch for the best texture. The aroma of honey and butter should fill your kitchen, just like it used to when my grandmother would make something special.
