Learn how to make delicious Honey Garlic Chicken Wings. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split and tips removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)

If you’re missing fresh ginger, don’t fret! You can substitute it with a pinch of ground ginger for a similar flavor profile. The sesame seeds and cilantro are optional but highly recommended for that extra touch of texture and freshness.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack.
  3. Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until they are crispy and golden brown.
  4. While the wings are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Once the wings are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Transfer the wings to a large mixing bowl and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Toss the wings until they are well coated in the sauce.
  7. Serve the wings hot, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro for an added burst of flavor and color.

Pro tip: For even crispier wings, you can broil them for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking. Just be sure to keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
