Ingredients
- 2 pounds of chicken wings, tips removed and wings separated at the joint
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup sriracha sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Feel free to adjust the level of heat by modifying the amount of sriracha, or swap the cilantro for parsley if that’s what you have on hand. Cooking should be fun and adaptable!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This will allow air to circulate around the wings, ensuring they cook evenly and get that lovely, crispy texture.
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack.
- Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the honey, sriracha, soy sauce, lime juice, and butter. Stir until the butter has melted and the sauce is smooth. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven and place them in a large bowl. Pour the warm honey sriracha sauce over the wings and toss until they are well coated.
- Transfer the wings to a serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro if desired.
I love using local honey from the farmers’ market, bringing a touch of Charleston’s rich flavors into each bite. Remember, cooking is about using what you have and making it your own!
