Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
Feel free to substitute the breadcrumbs with gluten-free options if needed, and adjust the sriracha to your preferred spice level. My abuela taught me that recipes should be flexible, allowing cooks to follow their senses just like she did.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic, egg, soy sauce, sriracha, honey, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated but do not overmix to keep the meatballs tender.
- Once combined, use your hands to form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs, placing them on a tray as you go. This should yield about 20 meatballs.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook the meatballs for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Transfer the cooked meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Cooking these meatballs always reminds me of the times I spent in the kitchen with my abuela, learning to listen to the sizzle of the pan and watching for that perfect golden-brown color.
