Learn how to make delicious Honey Walnut Shrimp. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

If you’re looking for a lighter version, you can substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt. For a nut-free option, skip the walnuts entirely, and you’ll still have a delicious dish.

Instructions

  1. Begin by toasting the walnuts. In a small saucepan, combine the walnuts, water, and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to thicken, about 5 minutes. Transfer the walnuts to a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweetened condensed milk, and lemon juice until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  5. In a large bowl, gently toss the fried shrimp with the creamy sauce. Add the candied walnuts and give it a final toss to ensure everything is well-coated.
  6. Serve immediately while the shrimp is still hot and crispy. Enjoy the blend of textures and flavors that is sure to delight your senses!
