Ingredients
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
- 1/4 cup hot honey (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Feel free to substitute the mozzarella with a dairy-free alternative if needed, or swap the cilantro for fresh parsley if you prefer a milder herb.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. I like to keep it medium-thin for a nice balance of crisp and chew.
- Transfer the dough onto a baking sheet or a pizza peel if using a stone. If my abuela taught me anything, it’s to trust your instincts here—let the dough tell you when it’s ready.
- In a small bowl, mix the BBQ sauce and hot honey. Spread it evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Toss the cooked chicken with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Scatter the seasoned chicken over the BBQ sauce layer.
- Top with mozzarella cheese, followed by the red onions. The colors should remind you of a vibrant fiesta—let them inspire you!
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly before drizzling with additional hot honey and garnishing with fresh cilantro.
- Slice, serve, and savor the blend of flavors that are as lively as a family gathering.
