Learn how to make delicious Irish Chicken in Whiskey Cream Sauce. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.
Total Time:45 minutes
Yield:4 servings
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup Irish whiskey (feel free to substitute with chicken broth for a non-alcoholic version)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Begin by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, ensuring an even coat on both sides.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce the heat to medium and add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Carefully add the Irish whiskey, allowing it to bubble and reduce slightly, around 2-3 minutes. Use this time to scrape up any bits stuck to the bottom of the skillet for added flavor.
Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard, whisking until the sauce is smooth and begins to thicken, approximately 3-4 minutes.
Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top to ensure each piece is well-coated. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 5 minutes.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving for a burst of color and freshness.
