Learn how to make delicious Irresistible Smoked Cajun Cheese Burgers. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • Optional: pickles, mayo, or your favorite condiments

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 375°F. If you don’t have a grill, a cast-iron skillet on the stovetop will work wonders too.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Over-mixing can make the patties tough!
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and gently form each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  5. While the patties are grilling, lightly toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster for added texture and flavor.
  6. Assemble your burgers by placing the cheese-covered patty on the bottom half of the bun, followed by a slice of tomato, onion rings, and a crisp lettuce leaf. Top with optional pickles and condiments before adding the top bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, smoky flavors of your creation.
