Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4-5 jalapenos, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Substitution suggestions: If you prefer a milder twist, substitute with bell peppers. For an extra kick, try adding a pinch of cayenne. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a unique flavor profile.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chopped jalapenos, and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out each puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth out the creases.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over one puff pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Place the second puff pastry sheet over the first, pressing gently to seal the edges.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Take each strip and twist it several times, placing them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each twist with the beaten egg to give them a golden shine once baked.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow the twists to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the explosion of flavors!
