Ingredients
To create these delicious lobster rolls, you’ll need a few key ingredients. As always, I recommend sourcing the freshest lobster you can find to make these rolls truly shine. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 pound cooked lobster meat, chopped
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon minced chives
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 split-top hot dog buns
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
If you prefer a lighter option, Greek yogurt can be substituted for mayonnaise. And for an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Instructions
Follow these simple steps to bring a taste of coastal cuisine to your table:
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped lobster meat, mayonnaise, lemon juice, chives, celery, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently until all ingredients are well combined.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Brush the outside of each hot dog bun with melted butter.
- Place the buns in the skillet, buttered side down, and toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the buns from the skillet and let them cool slightly. If desired, line each bun with a lettuce leaf for added crunch.
- Generously fill each bun with the lobster mixture, making sure each roll is packed with flavor.
- Serve immediately, ideally with a view of the ocean or, in my case, a cozy spot on the porch with Biscuit by my side.
