Ingredients
- 4 ripe pears, halved and cored
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped walnuts for topping
Feel free to experiment with these ingredients. For a vegan version, substitute the butter with coconut oil and the honey with maple syrup. The recipe is flexible, just as my abuela’s were, allowing you to follow your senses.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the pear halves, cut side up, in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well mixed.
- Drizzle the mixture over the pears, ensuring each pear is evenly coated. If using, sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and golden. The scent of cinnamon and vanilla will fill your kitchen, reminiscent of the warmth and comfort of home.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. The pears should be soft but not mushy, with a beautiful caramelized surface.
